Burn Down the Disco

"First off the rack by dint of it being a generous freebie is the debut, self financed EP by The Auxiliaries. As they are 1/ Very young and 2/ from Sheffield it is perhaps inevitable they will be compared to the Monkeys. But they are very much their own men, and are blessed with a strong singer who sounds unlike Alex Turner without resorting to Mid Atlantic tones. They have a harder, funkier edge than current "cheeky" Northerners like Little Man Tate. They probably get nearer to Razorlight but a much more ragged and therefore enjoyable version. There is a sneer in the vocals on Columbus Black & White that marks them out as "ones to watch". Last track Giro Lane is an anthem waiting for it's audience, a grat companion piece for The Rakes' Work, Work... . How these young groups seem to spring up fully formed I don't fucking know. I think all the tracks are downloadable from their MySpace site so get weaving. "

Indie Dad - The Auxiliaries EP

"The Auxiliaries are doing what they are doing, with fast flash lyrics, a strong rhythm and a great melody and are worth a listen"

"The Auxiliaries E.P Review

From the second the unmistakable riffs of 'Take a Minute' kick in you can tell there is something special about The Auxiliaries. The drumming is immaculate throughout and you feel your feet begin to tap in time to the beat. Quite frankly, it's hard not to. From the upbeat, catchy melody of 'Columbus Black and White' to the dark and somewhat mysterious tones of 'Luke' there is something to get everyone dancing. The clean, sharp rhythms of 'Giro Lane' are complimented by unblemished vocals and tell a tale typical to teenage aspects of life;
("You'd best be careful just exactly who you're talking to now / cos' a mate of mine lives on Giro Lane / Oh and his brothers will come a knock seven bells of shit out of you / cos' a mate of mine lives on Giro Lane").
If you're young you'll know what The Auxiliaries are talking about, if you're old then this will take you back. Either way, this is not to be missed!

The Boardwalk - 6th December 2006

As I walk into The Boardwalk the room is filled with that familiar hum of chat as pleasantries are exchanged between both new and old faces, pints are bought, cigarettes lit, a fight has even broken out outside the venue but there is one fact that nobody can argue with - everyone is here to see The Auxiliaries. Somewhere amongst all the excited faces sit the band themselves at a table in the corner. You could be mistaken for thinking that this is an act of arrogance but that couldn't be further from the truth. This is simply what is known as 'the calm before the storm'. Fresh from college this has been a long day and is far form over yet but all four seem unfazed by this fact. Lee Unwin (Vocals, Guitar), Tom 'Millo' Millington (Guitar), Paul 'Squeg' Williams (Drums) and Nikki Dunbar (Bass) take a minute to relax before they clamber onstage. The venue is by now very full and I have to fight my way to the front to guarantee myself a good view and in doing so I am shot a number of extremely pissed off looking glances.

They don't mess about tonight and proceed to give everyone exactly what they want, thus, kicking in with '24:01'. The catchy melody is the perfect opener and consequently has everyone tapping their feet but this is only the start as next on the list is 'Take a Minute'. Lee's smooth voice effortlessly accompanies the melody as an eager fan takes snap after snap of them. The band speed on ahead with performances of 'Theres a Name for People like You', 'Columbus Black and White', 'Galipoli' and 'Giro Lane' but now they have reached the end and indeed, the pinnacle of their spectacular set. 'Luke' is the song that steals the show with its dark meaning and a melody worthy of sending a chill down even Dracula's spine. It is quite impossible to believe that any 16 year old could write a set of lyrics or music quite so amazing and distinctive as these.

It's long past The Auxiliaries bedtime and college beckons early the next morning but for thirty minutes tonight the room and everyone in it belonged to them and nothing can take that away from them. It's frightening to think where The Auxiliaries will be next. It's hard to imagine such a down to earth, friendly band who actually are peoples next door neighbours taking on the music industry but by these standards it seems by all means possible. Soon, it won't only be the show that is theirs, it will be the world! "

Jasmine Lapp - Norton Media

"Meet the Auxiliaries...a new quartet from Sheffield The Auxiliaries are a brand new Sheffield New Yorkshire band that is just about to release a new EP. With indie-pop-punk guitar riffs, this band is quite inspired by the likes of Arctic Monkeys, The Rakes, The Jam, etc. There's a name for people like you is a great guitar piece, melodic and catchy. Reminds a lot of late seventies stuff like The Clash for example. Same with Take a minute, which is really short and energetic, which brings us to that pop-post-punk atmosphere. But it also have some touch of modernity with Giro Lane, a catchy song that could have been written by the likes of Franz Ferdinand. It's such an amazing song. Columbus black and white have great lyrics and wants to make us dance. The Auxiliaries are following the good vibes of the new rock'n'roll way. It's a band that will worth checking out in the near future."

Melanie Lapierre - CISM Radio

"The Aux' continued to maintain the high standards they've set at previous gigs.. .. They finished on new song "Luke", a darker song which turned out to be another highlight of the set."
